do you have waterbugs???? Please read, esp. Bldg 1!

am i the only one? i'm horrified - i've lived in tenements before Penn South and NEVER had a problem like this. i'm on the first floor of building 1.

i've had the exterminator come 3x and it's only gotten worse. i think they're coming from the bathroom - most likely the faucet...?

any advice?

PLEASE if you are having a problem with insects, call the office and arrange for extermination. how is it possible i'm the only one going through this? i'm thinking after another visit with the person they send, i might have to hire someone privately...

I find that the exterminating company they use is mediocre at best. I have seen those water bugs in the laundry room of building7 over the years. I have had a water bug in my apartment only once over the years-- much more common in the laundry room. guess because you are on the first floor

You're not the only one -- I also have my horror stories about those disgusting things. In all the years (and I mean a lot of years) of living in apartments I never had such a problem. I'm on a second floor and I think they come through the risers (not sure about that though). I usually see them in the summer. Have you had problems with them during other seasons? Perhaps we should take this up with management.

yeah... thanks. someone else told me they often come from the basement so it's more of a problem on lower floors. i'm thinking of putting myself on the transfer list because between this and street noise i feel like i'm losing my mind.

i think i'll have to get more insistent with management... get them to treat the downstairs areas...? (i so hope this doesn't mean a long/frustrating attempt) and if necessary hire privately.

P.S. the problem started after the HVAC work... so it started in february or march... they've told me it's not related (management and exterminator) but i don't know that i believe them....

Oh, no! And, just when I've gotten over the bedbug thing.

I've occasionally seen waterbugs in the laundry room.

Once, years ago, I found trying to come into my apartment through the electric socket. It was half in and half out. Must have gotten electrocuted. Had to call someone to come and get it out. I'm on the second floor.

Another bedbug in my apartment last week. Like the one last year it was over by the convector. Last year's I killed, this year's I didn't want to deal with immediately so I went out. I haven't seen it since. I think it must have gone back out through the convector.

JQ -- you wrote that you're in Bldg. 1 -- has there been an increase in the vermin situation since the HVAC project. I'm in Bldg. 5 -- they're going to start the second phase in our building early July but I'm already seeing so many water bugs on the main floor that it's sickening. Most of them are already dead, but I've had to say something to get those horrible looking things swept away before I barf. I've even seen them in the cooling room. I hope Management reads this board and does something because the situation is horrible, especially since we don't have the use of the convector a/c in our apts.
