    Re: Gristedes and CVS rant

nope nothing to do with any loyalty card- just ask for the senior discount- I do- the age seems to vary- not sure what is proper age but i always get it and I dont look my age- i ask- of course if you have a favorite cashier it will help maybe- just dont ask if the manager is around you

      Re: Gristedes and CVS rant

I've been told that the application for the card asks for date of birth and, therefore, is used to calculate current age which will determine eligibility for any senior discount.

NOT TRUE- i dont think it has anything to do with the discount really- i dont even have the card and i just ask for the discount

              Re: Gristedes and CVS rant

Here's a copy of an email I received re senior discounts. The list is quite impressive but not entirely accurate or inclusive. For instance, Dunkin Donuts doesn't have "free" coffee but they do give a discount. I don't know when this list was published so there may be some changes, but here goes:
              ************
As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently,I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and
charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that
seniors over age 55 ...get 10% off everything on the menu, every day. (But you need to ASK for your discount.)
Being of 'that' age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too.
this incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50 .
This list may not only be useful for you, but for your friends and family too.
Dunkin Donuts gives free coffee to people over 55 .
If you're paying for a cup every day, you might want to start getting it for FREE.
YOU must ASK for your discount !
