  • Restaurant exhaust pollution

Restaurant in my neighborhood gives off constant rancid smoke from its roof exhaust and as a result I keep windows closed throughout the year. Recently called 311 to make a complaint and requested basic information on what city division handles restaurant air pollution and where I could find compliance regs. They didn't know - referred me to the Department of Air Conservation. Does anyone have a clue?

Just a guess, but try the Environmental Control Board, http://www.nyc.gov/html/ecb/html/home/home.shtml, or Sanitation. You can always call Christine Quinn's office and inform them that 311 was not helpful. That might work as 311 is supposed to be the Bloomberg administration's crown jewel. Good luck!

      Hi Catalyst,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write - both excellent ideas for me in dealing with this issue.
