  • Olde Good Things' Chelsea Outpost to Close at End of Month

CHELSEA — All good things must come to an end.
Antique store Olde Good Things is closing its original Chelsea outpost at the end of the month after deciding not to renew its lease, a manager said.
The chain currently has four locations in New York City, including the 9,000-square-foot store at 124 West 24th street between Sixth and Seventh avenues, which has sold antiques and architectural pieces for almost 20 years.
After the Chelsea location’s landlord asked the store to sign a new lease at a “much higher rent,” the chain started searching for other options, manager Paul Blottner said on Monday.
“We knew this was going to happen for years,” said Blottner, 59. “This is just an issue of money.”
Kimberly Gindi, a leasing agent for the space who works for Thor Equities, denied that Olde Good Things was leaving due to the rent increase but did not elaborate further.
For the next month before the Chelsea location closes, the store will be selling its wares — which include everything from chandeliers and furniture to fireplace mantels — at discounted prices.

"Kimberly Gindi, a leasing agent for the space who works for Thor Equities, denied that Olde Good Things was leaving due to the rent increase..."

Yeah, and the Easter Bunny will come hopping down Santa Claus Lane during the full moon in August. Thanks for the laugh, Kim.
