  • IMPT read- What You Need to Know if Rent Stabilization Laws

From Dna Info...usefull info re rent regulated apartments.
Must say it's sort of funny/unfunny how Cuomo is "urging" landlords to follow the law. LOL.
Personally, my landlord is very cool, so I'm just watching it all play out. But I am sure some folks have shady landlords. Read this, seems not much to worry about.
Just annoying that the people paid to work this stuff out are sitting around in Albany, staring at each other, waiting for the Rent Fairy to show up.
    Nice.

In 1971 (Governor Rockefeller was in office at that time) Republicans changed the rent laws by what came to be known as the Urstadt law. Charles Urstadt made the rich richer and gave landlords a big windfall that continues to operate today. They've been trying to repeal the Urstadt law for years but it's a real masquerade and keeps the tenants in anxiety every time the rent law expiration term comes up. The Rent Stabilization Board is a zoo, with apologies to the zoo animals. These guys are worse. Maybe one day they'll really do something to help tenants. Meanwhile, the landlords can keep lying about their needs so they can charge outrageous rents. The seriousness of the problem cannot be overestimated. It not only affects the health of the tenants but it's a cancer on the city. Shame on those involved!
