The at-least-four-year-old sidewalk shed has finally been removed from in front of 415 and 425 West 23rd Street. It has been reliably reported (and verified by several sources) that natural light has actually entered the lobbies and that first floor commercial tenants have bought out the neighborhood supply of sunglasses to protect their eyes from this forgotten phenomenon. Unconfirmed rumors are circulating wildly that the shed is actually being stolen piece by piece. There are also reports that someone has started a book on how long it will be untill the whole thing is down, and someone else has started a book on how long it will be untill the whole thing is put back up, as the Towers seems to keep doing.

There are reports that the Fifth Dimension will perform "Let the Sunshine In" at their reunion to celebrate removal of the entire structure.

Some Penn South choristers would probably like to join as we too have been under a lot of dark ugly scaffolding for months. Only recently they removed the bulk from most of the houses here and I almost walked past my building because I didn't recognize it.
