London Terrace Postal Station on Post Office Chopping Block List

The London Terrace Post Office, is one several Chelsea area post offices that is on the list of Post Offices that are being considered for closure.

It's ironic, the London Terrace station was first conceived as a federal "make work" project of the 1930's depression era. Now the impetus for its possibly being shuttered is occurring because of the depression of 2008.

The article below is from the London Terrace News of 1934 and gives more details on the origins of the London Terrace Station:

UPDATE: London Terrace Postal Station NOW OFF Post Office Chopping Block List

I just received word that the London Terrace station no longer on the list. The original list showed 25 Manhattan Post Offices, the updated list has 5. And though London Terrace is safe (for the moment at least), the Port Authority Station is still on the updated list.
